We are proud to announce the newest addition to our Spotted Savanna family with our first adopted giraffe! She is a young desert-dwelling giraffe of north-western Namibia named Kaoko. Kaoko tends to stay around the Hoarusib River, as she has been spotted in that area several times. However, despite her tendencies to stay in the same area, she is a very social giraffe. She moves along the riverbed in the company of a large herd.
Kaoko may look tiny next to her herd, but she was already six feet tall at birth! Because many of those in the herd travel with their young, we hope to see Kaoko with a calf of her own one day. We will be sure to keep you updated on what she is up to each quarter. With our mission being to help the giraffe population, we also hope to adopt several other giraffe in the future. Thank you all for your support!
